Typically the recruiting process starts after June 15th of an athlete's sophomore year. The recruiting rules and calendar for NCAA Divisions I-II-III plus JUCO and NAIAI are varied, but the process for athletes interested in playing in college at any level is similar to get started.
1) Start with the University Athletes site: For step-by-step instructions on how to create your University Athlete profile, visit Creating Your UniversityAthlete.com Profile: Why, How, and What.
2) Fill out questionnaires at specific colleges: By junior year (or earlier) players should go to the Men's Volleyball website of any school they are interested in and fill out the recruiting profile.
For examples, here are links to a few local colleges' recruiting questionnaires:
Players could also follow up with emails to the coaches.
3) Expand out to other platforms: Other online recruiting platforms are helpful and the free versions are fine:
- NCSA (consultation needed to keep free profile).
- CaptainU
- Field Level
- Sports Recruits
4) Make the most out of your profiles: For more information on adding content to your college recruiting profiles, and what coaches are looking for, we've pulled together some recommendations for you here:
